Wow, what nice and friendly people! We do have crime but so far it is pretty petty stuff. I always say that the Zambians are the most honest people in Africa – if they are lying to you it is purely because they don’t want to hurt your feelings with the truth!

You can still wild camp, leave stuff outside your tent (mind the monkeys), stop on the side of the road – all without feeling threatened.
WATER, WATER, WATER!
Waterfalls, lakes, dambos – we have it all! In fact we have 40% of all Africa’s water flowing through Zambia!
Talking about water – we have the biggest falls! Bit too touristy for me but still they are magnificent!
Staying with water, Tanganyika is surreal and mysterious. You almost want to whisper when you visit this incredible mass of water. I could spout lengthy facts about it but it is the 2nd deepest mass of water in the world (1400m plus), it is “dead” from about 150m down (no oxygen), it is the second largest lake in the world by volume, it has awesome fishing with 250 ciclid and 150 odd non ciclid species and 98 % of them are endemic and I bet that you didn’t know that Che Guevara used the western shores of Lake Tanganyika as a training camp for his guerrilla forces in the Congo.
Water by the hunderds of kilometers. We probably have the most fascinating stretch of the Zambezi with Tiger fishing you only dream of.
