The UK's leading online travel agent On the Beach, has witnessed a significant rise in holiday bookings over the October half term period, as British holidaymakers look to escape the unpredictable British weather.
Research conducted by the online travel agent data shows that overall, holiday bookings during the forthcoming half term are up by more than 20% compared to the previous year and with the Pound strengthening against the Euro meaning cheaper in resort costs, European holidays are proving all too tempting for British holidaymakers.
The ever popular Greek Islands, which are enjoying temperatures in the mid 20's have seen the biggest increase in bookings compared to last year, with bookings more than doubling.
Resorts across Turkey, which are also experiencing temperatures in the mid to late 20's are also proving particularly popular this year, up 78% on the previous year.
Spain is also drawing in the crowds this half term, with Canary Islands attracting more holidaymakers than the same time last year. Fuerteventura has seen the biggest increase in bookings up 39%, with Tenerife also proving more popular, up 34%.
Holidays bookings to Egypt's Sharm El Sheikh are also above last year, up 47% whilst sales of holidays to Tunisia are up 48%.
Alistair Daly, Chief Marketing Officer at On the Beach comments: "Holidays during half term are always popular but our bookings show that this year looks set to beat the records. Typical European hot spots such as Greece and Turkey are attracting many more holidaymakers this year compared to last and with the Pound performing well against the Euro, holidaymakers will get more bang for their buck."
